Joey holds a pivotal role as the Director of Xapo, leading its public affairs, policy, and regulation initiatives. Widely recognized as a trailblazer in the realm of virtual currency regulation, Chambers&Partners honored him among the top 12 global lawyers. He plays an instrumental role with the United Nations, especially the UNODC, assisting authorities in South East Asia. In the crypto space, he has collaborated with industry giants such as Binance, Huobi group, Square, Bitso, and several others, even representing Xapo in the Diem association.

Beyond these responsibilities, Joey is an integral member of the global Wharton Reg@Tech think tank, which congregates fintech scholars and regulators to deliberate on sectoral challenges. He's also a foundational member of thinkBlocktank in Luxembourg and is affiliated with INATBA. His expertise is evident in his contributions to several publications, notably the report by the Digital Chamber of Commerce in Washington and guidance for the UK Law Society. He actively engages in refining FATF recommendations, offering his insights and solutions, especially concerning the Travel Rule. His commitment to fostering global collaboration is evident as he is part of the 'Global Blockchain Convergence' steering committee.
